Pr Farbar

Pr Farbar is a multi-storey house whose most interesting feature is its regularly and symmetrically arranged façade. The main front has three vertical window axes, while towards the square the house ends in a higher, narrower triangular gable containing two window axes.

The present appearance is the result of numerous changes, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries, so the original floor plan can no longer be identified precisely. Inside, however, characteristic vaults provide important evidence of its age, suggesting that the building was probably erected in the early 18th century.

The house took its name from the leather dyeing workshop that operated here over time. Tanning was a highly developed activity in 19th-century Laško and took place beside the Žikovca stream. Tanners and dyers discharged their waste into the water, giving the stream a rather apt popular nickname: Šajspoh.
