Pasarič House
Pasarič House is a renovated 18th-century market-town house in the centre of the historic core. In the past it was home to the Pasarič family of ‘drechslers’ — woodturners.
Woodturners were skilled craftspeople who shaped timber on a rapidly rotating lathe. As the piece of wood spun on its axis, the turner removed layers with different chisels, by hand or semi-mechanically, gradually forming a precise profile. The craft was characterised by perfect symmetry, and turned objects were recognisable by rounded and cylindrical forms with smooth transitions, fine grooves and decorative rings. Laško's woodturners were particularly renowned for making chess pieces, which became their signature products.
Today the building is home to Laška House.
