Krašovec House

This so-called house-over-cellar building — its cellar is not dug into the ground but constructed like a ground floor — has a wooden gallery running along its full length on stone corbels. The portals leading into the cellar, as well as one leading into the residential part, are made of stone. The cellar rooms are vaulted. The building's present appearance dates from the 19th century, although some Baroque elements can still be recognised despite substantial alterations.

A tannery once operated in the building. Tanning vats survive in the cellar, although they were filled in during one of the later alterations.

In the 1950s Evstahij Krašovec placed a small apiary in the garden in front of his house on Mestna ulica. He used it for his own needs while constantly sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with young beekeepers. Today the house is home to the Laško Beekeeping Centre.
